I would like more info on the company that may help with mineral rights verifications?

I was reading a post/question that you answered where you stated that your husband worked for a company that verified mineral rights in the west. I live in Wyoming and am trying to find out if mineral rights have a grandfather clause of ownership on property that was homesteaded by a family and is still owned and operated by the same family?
