Someone in my family is willing to assist me in purchasing a home since my credit is still being built and the market is in the buyer's favor right now. Florida offers the homestead exemption on property taxes. Being as the person assisting with the mortgage already owns a home, they would not be eligible for the exemption. If the deed were in my name, then I would qualify. If the mortgage is not in my name at all, can the deed be in my name alone?
